**Bhubaneswar: ** While party ticket lobby and protest against denial of ticket drama by BJD workers of various MLA candidates have started waning, Naveen Niwas here today witnessed ‘dharna’ (sit-in protest) by Odisha BJP delegation demanding acceptance of government service resignation letter of the saffron party’s Saraskana MLA candidate.
The BJP delegation included Odisha unit BJP’s vice-president Samir Mohanty, general secretary-cum-senior woman leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar and aggrieved Saraskana MLA candidate Dr Budhan Murmu.
In his media reactions, Odisha BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty burst, “Dr Budhan Murmu is a popular doctor in Saraskana Assembly constituency as well as Mayurbhanj district. He has served as a government servant for 27 years. His popularity is there in the area and he joined BJP for which he had tendered his resignation six months back by handing it over to the State Health Department.”
“Despite all his documents okay, the State Government has not yet accepted his resignation letter and accorded him clearance. We have raised this matter at various fora, but of no avail. Hence today morning, we came over here with Dr Murmu to meet the Chief Minister. Chief Minister’s political secretary Gopabandhu Babu informed us that the Chief Minister has already phoned the department and the clearance will be done very soon. For this, we are on dharna till we get the formal resignation clearance letter,” the senior BJP leader stated.
Sources revealed that BJP’s Saraskana MLA candidate was a doctor at Rangamatia Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Mayurbhanj district. He had tendered his resignation from the State Government service on October 4, 2018.
Notably, filing of nomination papers for fourth phase general elections-2019, including Mayurbhanj district, has been slated from tomorrow (April 4) to April 9.
