Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP on Sunday staged silent protest in several cities across the State in order to protest Dhenkanal’s brutal rape and murder case and egg attacks on Union Ministers Radha Mohan Singh and Jual Oram.

Hunderds of party activists staged silent protest, tying their mouths, at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Park, near the party headquarters here.

Speaking to the media, BJP State General Secretary Pruthviraj Harichandan said, “The law and order situation has collapsed in this state. Women are being brutally raped in the state and the Government is not being able to give them justice. On the contrary, they are conducting violent attacks on BJP’s senior leaders and Union Ministers. We are answering their violent attacks with non violence.”

BJP leader and actress Pinky Pradhan also slammed the Government on this occasion.

“The brutal rape and murder incident which occurred in Dhenkanal’s Kankadahada was no less tragic than Delhi’s Nirbhaya case. Somewhere the government is promoting this kind of incidents by not taking strong action against the culprits. At the same time, they are forcing Odisha women to remove their black stoles and clothes at CM Naveen Patnaik’s Programmes. This is shameful,” she said.

However, BJD has termed this event as a political "stunt".

Party spokesperson Pratap Deb Said, We have repeatedly condemned organised egg attacks. Instead of performing such demonstration, they should discuss on more serious topics.”
