Bhubaneswar: Bollywood ‘dream girl’ and BJP’s star campaigner MP Hema Malini on Friday sought votes for party candidates in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri by addressing public meetings and holding road shows.
During her campaign, she criticised the BJD government for failing to develop Odisha. She said that BJD should take rest now.
Malini, while canvassing in Bhubaneswar, said that the BJD government has claimed to have done many things, but the reality completely different. A lot of things needs to be done for the State, she pointed out.
“The Congress party has ruled the state for 50 years and the BJD has been ruling for 25 years and they are now tired. Corruption, crime against women and unemployment have increased in the state. Now, Odisha should be a part of the Modi government, which has evolved with full energy and Odisha will benefit then,” she said.
Despite being rich in natural beauty, tourism in Odisha has not been developed in absence of political will, she added.
The actress-turned-politician further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a lot of initiatives for the development of the poor, women, Dalits, tribals and backward classes. It is a matter of concern that central schemes couldn’t reach the people of Odisha.
“Modiji has given funds to the tune of Rs 18 lakh crore to Odisha. After the double engine government was formed in Odisha, the real development of Odisha can only take place when a double-engine government will be formed in the state,” Hema Malini said.
The actress conducted road shows in Kishorenagar in Cuttack and Pipili in Puri district and addressed a public meeting at Satyabadi under Puri Lok Sabha constituency.
