Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced that elections to elect the president of its Odisha unit will be held on January 17 (Friday), informed State Co-Election Officer and spokesperson Sudipta Ray here today.
Addressing a presser here at the party’s State headquarters, Ray said that filing of nominations for the post will begin at 3 PM on January 16 (Thursday) which will be later scrutinized.
“If necessary, polling of votes for the post of the president will start at 10 AM on January 17 and counting of votes will take place at 1.30 PM on the same day. In the event of only a single candidate contesting for the post of the president, the Central observer for the election will announce the name of the candidate as elected at 11 AM on January 17 and congratulate the newly elected candidate,” he added.
Ray further said that in this election 21 National Council members will be elected from the 21 Lok Sabha segments of the State.
During the process, Central observer Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and former Union Minister and MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi among others will be present, he added.
