Bhubaneswar: Strengthening of party organisation in 37,000 booths will be the priority, said Samir Mohanty, the newly elected BJP Odisha unit president.
Briefing newsmen after taking charge from outgoing president Basant Panda at the party’s headquarters here, Mohanty said that functionaries of 37,000 booths will take the responsibility of taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s welfare programmes to the people.
“We will try to win the confidence of the people by serving them. I am very much hopeful that my party functionaries will take up the responsibility,” said BJP Odisha president.
Mohanty described himself as only a facilitator between the party’s leadership and the booth level functionaries.
“I am a mere facilitator between the party’s leadership and the party’s functionaries at the 37,000 booths,” stated Mohanty.
Mohanty said that people of Odisha have given them the role of the opposition in Vidhan Sabha and they will dutifully do their job of raising issues of the people.
“The people of Odisha have given us the role of the opposition in Vidhan Sabha. We have the Leader of the Opposition, and several experienced and highly educated legislators who will raise the issues concerning the people,” the newly elected BJP president said.
Mohanty was elected unopposed as the new president of the BJP’s State unit on Thursday.
