**Bhubaneswar: ** Launching the month-long ‘Jansampark Padayatra’, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today came down heavily on his political bête noire BJP ruling at the Centre on its unfulfilled poll promise of Special Category Status to Odisha.
Addressing the launch of month-long BJD ‘Jansampark Padayatra’, party supremo Naveen Patnaik said, “We’re keeping our promises given to the people. Food security, shelter security, healthcare security and social security are the four pillars of our success.”
He added, “During the past four years, 18 lakh pucca houses have been built in the State. Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is a historic step.”
Taking a dig at BJP, the BJD supremo said, “The number one programme of BJP’s manifesto was Special Category Status. The people of Odisha are still waiting for it till date. Empty vessel sounds much.”
Reacting to it, Odisha BJP leader Prithviraj Harichandan countered, “There is a hell and heaven difference between what Naveen Babu says and does. Today I cross question him. Whatvever Central funds are allocated to Odisha not being utilized properly.”
He lampooned, “The funds being allocated under Central share and Central-sponsored schemes, even flagship schemes are being lying unutilized. The State Government is unable to submit utilization certificate for which the next allotment is being blocked.”
“Why are they (Odisha’s BJD Government) demanding Special Category Status? They are unable to spend the allocated funds on the benefits of the State here. The State’s development is being hampered. The Special Category Status demand is an empty political stunt. It is well known to them that Odisha can’t be granted the Special Category Status,” he lambasted.
