Blame Game Begins Over Bangladeshi Minor Tortured In Shelter Home

**Bhubaneswar**: A day after a 16-year-old Bangladeshi migrant rescued by an NGO in Puri alleged that he was physically tortured in ‘Asha Kiran’, a city-based NGO, where he was staying, Khurda CWC said it was a conspiracy to malign the image of the child shelter home.

On the other hand, the Child Welfare Committee, Khurda, which had initially rescued the boy from Bhubaneswar and admitted him to the shelter home at Jatni, denied the allegations.”

The CCTV footage provided by the CWC shows the boy escaping through a skylight by placing two iron trunks.

Speaking to reporters here, Khurda CWC member Benudhar Senapati said, “It seems the entire incident was pre-planned and Manoj Swain of ‘Soch’, another child shelter which is involved in many illegal activities in the past, had sent messages to Asha Kiran director demanding ransom of Rs 1 lakh,” alleged Senapati.

He also said that as ‘Soch’ is defunct in Bhubaneswar, so it had had struck a nexus with Puri CWC in order to malign the image of Asha Kiran.

The truth will come out only after proper investigation, Senapati added.

“Social organisation called ‘Soch’ had rescued a Bangladeshi boy and then handed over to Puri CWC. The boy had alleged that he was tortured in Bhubaneswar where he was staying and as per the direction Puri Child Protection Officer will investigate the matter,” said Puri ADMO Bibhuti Bhusan Das

Notably, Puri CWC Chairperson Sidhartha Roy on Wednesday told to media that when volunteers had rescued the boy from Puri railway station his legs were badly injured.

He also said that the minor boy was beaten up at the shelter in Jatani.
