Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has requested citizens to observe Covid-19 guidelines during visits to pandals and participation in the Ganesh puja celebrations.
“We at BMC request people to observe Covid guidelines like the use of masks and sanitisers while visiting pandals or taking part in Ganesh puja celebrations,” said BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.
Kulange stated that Ganesh Puja organisers have been asked to make available sanitisers and observe covid guidelines.
“A responsible behaviour is expected to be followed to avoid Covid despite crowding,” the BMC Commissioner said.
Further, puja organisers have been requested to maintain sanitation by using dust bins for disposal of garbage, he stated.
“There should be no littering of garbage near pandals. Garbage collected in dustbins will be cleared BMC,” he added.
Kulange informed that special arrangements have been also made for the immersion of idols and added that artificial ponds for immersion purposes will be created soon.
“People are requested against immersion of idols in any other ponds or water bodies than the ones earmarked for the purpose by the BMC. Again I will request people to avoid crowding and follow Covid guidelines,” the BMC Commissioner appealed.
Ganesh puja falls on August 31 this year.
