Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) added another feather to its cap by securing two awards in the field of sanitation.
The civic body has received two awards in Swachh Sarvekshan under the Swachha Bharat Mission programme.
The award was given today at a special ceremony organized by the Central Government in New Delhi.
On the occasion, Manoj Joshi, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Government of India,handed over the honour to BMC Mayor Honorable Mayor Sulochana Das, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kaher, Standing Committee Chairman Birchi Narayan Mahasupkar, Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange accepted the honour.
Bhubaneswar has been ranked clean city in Odisha in the cleanliness survey for the year 2023. Only Bhubaneswar has got the honor in the state. The award is given on the basis of regular comparative review of survey teams, performance, field visits, sanitary practices of citizens and residents in cities with population above one lakh.
BMC has bagged three stars in Garbage Free City Award.
However, at the global level, its position has reached 34. Since the last years, the extraordinary change and transformation in the cleanliness of Bhubaneswar is reflected in every part of the city.
Last year, the rank of Bhubaneswar was 80. It reached 34 this time and has shown its excellence in cleanliness.
