Bhubaneswar: Amidst the ongoing confusion on positive cases of COVID-19 in Satya Nagar area, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today gave a clear break-up of the occurences and their locations in the Capital City.
Addressing the media, Municipal Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said that total 34 positive COVID-19 cases have been detected in Bhubaneswar. Giving a break-up of these cases, Chaudhary shared the details as follows:
Badagada – 1 case; Bharatpur – 1 case; Sahid Nagar – 1 case; Surya Nagar – 8 cases; Bomikhal – 14 cases; Kapilaprasad – 1 case; Satya Nagar – 4 cases; Unit V – 1 case; Mahisakhal BJB Nagar – 1 case; Madhusudhan Nagar – 1 case; and Jharpada – 1 case.
Earlier in the day there was some confusion among residents of the Capital City, especially Satya Nagar and its adjoining areas following BMC’s order of declaring Satya Nagar as a containment zone.
BMC had issued an order to declare major parts of Satya Nagar as containment zone to contain the spread of COVID19. Soon after this news flashed on television, following BMC’s annoucement on Twitter, there was palpable tension in the area.
Later the Health Department and BMC came up with a map showing positive COVID-19 cases in Bhubaneswar with their location. In the evening, the Municipal Commissioner addressed the media to clarify the matter further.
“All the active COVID19 +ve patients have been shifted to COVID19 Hospital and they are in isolation,” he added.
“We have declared 5 areas as containment zones. The purpose is to contain the areas where positive cases have been detected. It helps us to carry out active surveillance in that area,” he added.
