Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has collected an amount of nearly Rs 65,000 from defaulters violating norms like littering nearby areas, not keeping double dustbins of proper size and resistance to follow the norms in different marketplaces in the three administrative zones of the city in the last two days.
According to an official press note issued by the BMC, during the last two days about 100 units have been visited by the staff of BMC to ensure strict adherence to Solid Waste Management Rule 2016.
In three administrative zones of the city nearly an amount of Rs 65,000 have been collected along with warnings, the press note added.
Designated authorities have found them violating norms like littering the nearby areas, not keeping double dustbins of proper size and being resistant to following norms.
Team BMC in the SW zone collected Rs 21,200 whereas Rs 18,500 and Rs 25,000 was collected from SE Zone and North zone respectively.
Besides repeated appeals and orders by BMC, many defaulters were found in different marketplaces of the city.
For the safety of city life and promotion of hygiene, sanitation and aesthetics, the city authority will do intensive checking along with awareness, the press note said.
