Bhubaneswar: In a decisive move to uphold food safety standards and protect public health, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) intensified its food safety inspection drive on Monday, cracking down on stale and unhygienic food items being sold across the city.
During the operation, over 30 kilograms of contaminated food were seized and destroyed from various food stalls and establishments.
The inspection team conducted rigorous checks at multiple locations, including sweet shops and food vendors in Chandrasekharpur, near the Fire Station, the vicinity of SUM Hospital, and the Kalinga Vihar area.
The targeted drive aimed to curb the sale of unhygienic food products that pose significant health risks to consumers.
Additionally, food samples were collected and sent to laboratories for chemical and microbiological testing to detect any adulteration or contamination.
The BMC has made it clear that such inspections will be regular and stringent, emphasising the importance of public health and consumer safety.
