Bhubaneswar: As many as 52 Independent Corporator candidates withdrew their nominations on the last day for withdrawal of nominations for elections to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
With these withdrawals, 289 candidates remained in the fray for Corporator posts of BMC. Twelve candidates are in the fray for the Mayor post, informed BMC Electoral Officer Prafulla Kumar Swain.
The Independent candidates for Corporator posts had filed nominations hoping to get party tickets.
