Bhubaneswar: An employee of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was attacked by a group of miscreants in VSS Nagar on Sunday evening.
The BMC employee has been identified as Chakradhar Jena.
According to reports, Jena was repairing a streetlight in front of a local bar when three unidentified miscreants approached him. Without any provocation, they began verbally abusing him.
When Jena tried to defend himself, the miscreants escalated the situation by using offensive language and hurling a beer bottle at him. The bottle struck his head, causing injuries, and they further assaulted his hand.
As Jena attempted to flee, the miscreants chased and assaulted him. Local residents who witnessed the incident immediately alerted Saheed Nagar Police.
Police arrived swiftly at the scene, provided first aid, and rushed Jena to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. They also managed to nab one of the miscreants, while the other two fled the scene.
