Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Jagannath Pattnaik, Executive Engineer of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), for possessing disproportionate assets (DA) beyond his known sources of income.

According to the Vigilance investigation, searches conducted on Pattnaik’s properties revealed amassed wealth, including three multi-storeyed buildings, one farmhouse, three high-value plots in Bhubaneswar, 460 grams of gold, deposits over Rs 80 lakhs, one four-wheeler (Grand Vitara), one pair of antler horns and a country-made gun.

Pattnaik failed to provide satisfactory accounts for these assets, leading to his arrest. A case (Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 16/2025) has been registered against him.

Additionally, another case has been instituted against Pattnaik under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, for illegal possession of antler horns (OR Case No. 3 in Balipatna Forest Range).

The investigation is ongoing.
