Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is focusing on enforcement, micro containment zones, and closure of areas to check the spread of Covid-19 in the capital city, said Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Thursday.
Answering a media query that is the BMC planning to declare a shutdown, weekend shutdown, or night curfew in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases in Bhubaneswar, Chaudhary replied in the negative.
He said that as per the Government order, public access to BMC and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) offices has been restricted. Arrangements will be done to provide the services online.
Details have been shared on the social media accounts of the BMC and BDA and helpline numbers have been issued. The public can also lodge their complaints through the bhubaneswar.me portal.
Chaudhary further said that educational institutions were directed yesterday to ensure that the students should vacate as soon as their exams are over. And those who do not have any exams due should go home.
A 10-day special drive has been launched in the city for enforcement of COVID-19 guidelines. Commissinerate Police is also carrying out enforcement activities. Market areas and malls are being visited in the evening hours, he added.
The BMC on Wednesday sealed the function hall of Ram Mandir at Janpath over violation of COVID-19 guidelines. The attempt is to bear fruitful results from the special drive in coordination with police.
