Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a warning to all chicken vendors and citizens in the city, following the detection of the bird flu virus in the surrounding areas of Bhubaneswar.
In a statement, the BMC advised poultry meat traders to refrain from purchasing chicken from the affected areas, citing the risk of contracting the disease. The civic body also urged citizens to report any abnormal deaths or illnesses of chickens or birds to the nearest veterinary centre immediately.
To prevent the spread of the virus, the BMC instructed citizens to bury dead birds in designated areas, wearing masks and gloves to handle the carcasses. The civic body also appealed to citizens to cooperate with BMC officials during their visits and provide accurate information to help contain the outbreak.
As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of bird flu in the city, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das appealed to the citizens to take necessary precautions and avoid consuming chickens to ensure their safety.
