Bhubaneswar: The special budget session of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for 2026-27 was held at Ekamra Hall, where Mayor Sulochana Das and Finance Standing Committee Chairman Rajkishore Das presented the budget.
The BMC has set a target of Rs 1050 crore for the financial year 2026-27, with Rs 300 crore expected from its own income and Rs 750 crore from government grants. The budget aims to establish a healthy, prosperous, clean, green, and environment-friendly Bhubaneswar with strong infrastructure.
Mayor Das emphasized that the budget is people-oriented and will facilitate roads, drains, beautification, waste management, and more. The government has made it a condition to increase income by 12.65% per annum for grants, and BMC aims to achieve this target.
The budget presentation highlighted the corporation’s focus on improving infrastructure and services, aligning with the vision of a beautiful and sustainable Bhubaneswar.
