Bhubaneswar: As the Covid-19 vaccination drive has been slated to be launched on January 16 and the first consignment of the authorized vaccine is scheduled to reach today afternoon around 4.30 pm to the State here, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) authorities have already made elaborate arrangements for the purpose.
Even though the recipients, especially the health workers, have been shortlisted, the BMC Commissioner today appealed all the health workers to register themselves anyhow by today evening as the registration facility is open by that deadline.
Talking to media persons today, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary informed, “For the first phase vaccination, the doctors and all medical-related staff have been shortlisted. For Bhubaneswar, the list has been nearly 21,000 recipients. Registration is open till today evening. Post evening hours, registration won’t be allowed. Hence, we have appealed to the doctors, staff nurses and other health workers to anyhow get registered themselves by today evening.”
He added, “There are five locations earmarked here in the city for the January 16 launching day. We are fully prepared for the vaccine supply process. Adequate arrangements for the vaccination centres have already made at 27 government hospitals, including Capital Hospital and 18 other big private hospitals here.”
Responding to media query on the specific five vaccination centres in the capital city here, the BMC Commissioner stated, “They are Capital Hospital, Unit IV CHC, BMC Hospital located at Old Town, SUM Hospital and KIIMS.”
