BMC Shuts Ram Mandir Function Hall, Pvt College For Violation Of COVID Guidelines

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday sealed the function hall of Ram Mandir here at Janpath over violation of COVID-19 guidelines.

According to the BMC, a birthday party was being celebrated on the premises of the function hall without prior permission from the civic body.

“A team led by Zonal Deputy Commissioner (South East) Ansuman Rath visited the spot and ascertained that the function was being organized without any prior permission,” the BMC stated.

As directed by the Commissioner, no functions shall be allowed without prior permission from BMC. The guests to the function were vacated immediately from the location.

Following this, the premises was sealed and a fine of Rs 5,000 was collected from the organiser of the party.

Similarly, Oxford College of Engineering and Management, a private institution here at Palaspalli, was closed for violation of COVID guidelines.

The South-West enforcement squad acted on a complaint and inspected the institution following which it was closed, the BMC stated.
