Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has targeted to double the number of persons to be vaccinated against Covid-19 from tomorrow with the opening of the window for vaccination of persons above 45 years of age.
“Earlier we given a target to vaccinate 100 persons per day in government facilities which we decided yesterday to increase to 200 per day,” informed BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary speaking to reporters today.
Chaudhary said that earlier there used to be one vaccinator at a government facility now that has been increased to two teams so that they can at least cover 200 persons.
“Apart from that we have allowed mobilisation target of private hospitals to 50%. The government has given us a target of 6000 per day, we are trying for more than that,” he explained.
The BMC Commissioner informed that currently, there are 24 government vaccination centres including AIIMS and 31 private vaccination centres.
He said that a list of vulnerable groups in the above 45 years of age category which includes school teachers, street vendors, people working with utility service providers, restaurants and auto-rickshaw drivers and bus drivers and conductors is under preparation at the Zonal Divisional Commissioner level.
These persons are being tagged to different government vaccination centres, he added.
