Bhubaneswar: In pursuance of the Supreme Court’s (SC)’s standing guidelines, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) authorities today tightened up its belt for ascertaining pollution measures need to be taken by the respective puja pandals and committees.
In his media reactions, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said, “Today we held our coordination committee meeting meant for the pollution control measures during the puja season as per the guidelines of State Pollution Control Board (SPCB).”
“Accordingly, our team, constituted for monitoring the idol immersion activity, visited the spot today for the creation of temporary ponds. The team members will submit an overall report,” he added.
He further stated, “We have also formed some teams comprising scientists from the OSPB. The teams will randomly visit puja pandals to verify if the colours and materials used in the idols are in accordance with the Supreme Court’s guidelines. If violated, a report will be prepared and basing on the report necessary action will be taken.”
