Bhubaneswar: While yesterday’s depression over southeast Bay of Bengal intensified into deep depression today morning, it moved westwards with a speed of 11 kmph during past six hours and lay centered at 8.30 am today about 500 km east-southwest of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka) and 900 km southeast of Kanniyakumari (India).
As per the weather bulletin released by the IMD, it is very likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours and move close to Trincomalee (Sri Lanka) during evening/night of December 2. It is very likely to move nearly westwards thereafter emerge into Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Comorin area on December 3rd morning and move westward towards Tamil Nadu coast.
On the contrary, dry weather most likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha till December 4, the IMD weather bulletin stated.
On December 3, shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places in the early morning over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Boudh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
The IMD weather bulletin of today also stated that the highest maximum temperature of 33.0 degree C was recorded at Boudh and the lowest minimum temperature of 08.8 degree C was recorded at Sonepur in the plains of Odisha.
