Koraput: In a shocking turn of events, the bodies of a mother and her 10-year-old son were recovered from separate canals in Borigumma block Koraput district on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Anuska Parida (35) and her son Ehem Parida (10). The duo had gone missing since February 21, and a missing case was registered at the Borigumma police station.
According to reports, the boy’s body was found stuffed inside a sack near a canal under Kotpad police jurisdiction in Jeypore, while his mother’s body was recovered hours later from another canal near Jayantgiri.
Meanwhile, Borigumma police suspect Anuska’s daughter and her lover might be behind the brutal murder of mother-son duo. Anuska and her son reportedly opposed her relationship with the youth, leading to the gruesome murder.
Meanwhile, police have detained the woman and her lover for questioning.
Satyabrata Lenka, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, said, “We have recovered two bodies and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They had been missing. Police have registered a case in this connection and begun an investigation. Family dispute is believed to be the reason behind the gruesome murder. Detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the actual reason.”
The recovery of the bodies has sent shockwaves in the local community, with many demanding swift action against the accused.
