Dead body

Bhubaneswar: The body of a young man who belonged to Andhra Pradesh was recovered from the Gopalpur beach under Golanthara police jurisdiction in Ganjam district.

The deceased has been identified as V Chinna, a resident of Kapasakudi village in Andhra Pradesh.

Locals reported the incident to the Golanthara police after spotting the body on the beach.

The body bore severe cut marks on the neck and injuries on various parts of the body. Police have launched an investigation and are trying to determine the cause of death, said sources.

According to reports, Chinna had been missing from his village since May 14, but no complaint had been filed at the Kiviiti police station. It is suspected that Chinna might have been murdered and his body thrown into the sea.

Golanthra police, meanwhile, have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to Berhampur. The family members are expected to arrive at Golanthara today. The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report is received, said an investigating police officer.
