Sambalpur: Tension prevailed at Sahebi village in Odisha’s Sambalpur district after the body of a girl who was missing for the last three days was found inside the Pandiriposi forest on Sunday.
After the girl from the Sahebi village under the Naktideul police limits went missing three days ago, her family members had filed a complaint with the police after their searches yielded not result. On Sunday, some women spotted the girl’s naked body inside the forest.
On being informed, police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
The girl’s family members, meanwhile, alleged that she was gang-raped before being murdered. Soon, hundreds of locals along with the family members gathered at the spot and staged a protest. They blocked the Naktideul-Angul road demanding justice for the deceased girl demanding the arrest of the miscreants and compensation to the bereaved family.
The accused belongs to same village and has been apprehended by police and he has already confessed about the crime. Further, investigations are going on.
Senior police officers are monitoring the case. Post mortem of the dead body will be conducted by a team of doctors.
