**Bhubaneswar:** The body of Samir Kumar Patra, assistant general manager (AGM) of National Aluminium Company (Nalco), was found floating in Bindu Sagar pond on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, the fire fighting personnel have recovered the body of Patra from the heritage lake near Lingraj Temple in the capital city.
Pant, shirt, shoes and wallet of Patra were found near the banks the lake.
The reason behind the death is yet to be known.
A suicidal note has reportedly been seized from his pant pocket in which its has been mentioned that “nobody is responsible for my death mental disorder”.
However, the suicidal note, written on a Nalco’s letter pad, has been sent to the State Forensic Laboratory to find out its veracity and the writer’s identity.
“Samir was my cousin brother and very younger than me. I heard the news between 8.50 and 9 pm and reached hospital at 10 pm then we are asked to go police outpost where they told they had recovered the body when it was floating in Bindu Sagar. We are not able to see his body as it was taken to the morgue by that time. His wife went to Baripada and his elder brother and sister-in-law were in Karanjia so they came here today morning. After reaching here only, we got to know from media that a suicide note has been found but we didn’t know whether it’s an accidental death or murder it’s very early to say. We are really shocked as we didn’t know that such kind of incident would happen,” said Kishore Basa, cousin brother of Patra.
Investigation is still on to ascertain if it is a suicide or murder case.
“An unnatural death case in this connection has been registered at Lingraj police station and we have found a suicide letter from the spot. Prima facie it look like a case of drowning or suicide but the truth can only be known after the post mortem report and further investigation,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.
