Rayagada: The body of an infant boy stuffed in a sack was found in a bush near Rayagada bus stand in Rayagada on Sunday morning.
Municipality workers found the sack during sweeping and sanitation work today. They found the body wrapped in a white cloth and stuffed in a sack.
A medical tag was attached to the body of the infant and a receipt was found in the name of medical officer Shiba Ranjan Naik. The tag also mentioned the baby’s mother as Rashi Majhi and the father as Ramesh Majhi.
It is mentioned that the infant was admitted to the district headquarters hospital on February 16.
According to police, Ramesh Majhi is a resident of Bhaamanput under Doraguda police station. His wife Rashi Majhi gave birth to a baby boy at her home on February 16. After giving birth, Rashi’s pain worsened and the family brought her to the district headquarters hospital.
Later, Rashi gave birth to another baby girl at the hospital. However, her son died at the hospital during treatment. Ramesh stuffed the body of the infant in a sack and abandoned it in a bush.
Now, his wife and newborn daughter are undergoing treatment in a critical condition.
