Bhubaneswar: The body of a woman, who reportedly had gone missing after being dragged away by a crocodile in the Brahmani River while she was washing utensils, recovered from the river on Tuesday morning.
This incident took place at Alapuadia village under Pattamundai police limits, on Monday.
According to sources, Manjulata was cleaning utensils on the riverbank when a crocodile suddenly attacked and dragged her into the water. Her family members and locals searched for her but couldn’t find her.
Today, the body was found with severe injuries. This is not the first incident of a crocodile attack in the area. Locals have complained to the forest department several times about the presence of crocodiles in the river, but no concrete action has been taken.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of people living near the river and the need for effective measures to prevent crocodile attacks.
It is pertinent to mention that five people were dragged away by crocodiles in the same area last year.
