Sundargarh: The body of a youth, who had been shunned by his family and relatives for performing an inter-caste marriage, was carried by police for around three kilometres down a hill and cremated after post-mortem. Such an incident has occurred at Ginia forest near Phuljhar in Kuliposh range of Sundergarh district.
Reportedly, the deceased identified as Hemant Mundari (30) of Upper Ginia village had been ostracized by his family for marrying a girl from another caste. He had died yesterday after being attacked by an elephant in the forest. Though his family members came to know about it, they didn’t bother to bring back the body.
After getting information from the forest department. Mahulpada Police IIC and staff reached the spot. They asked Hemant’s family members to shoulder his body but they refused. Finally, the IIC and staff carried the body down the hill for around 3 kilometres and sent it for post-mortem. Later, they also cremated him.
