Keonjhar: The body of a young man, who went missing after drowning in the Gundichaghagi waterfall under Ghatgaon police station in Keonjhar, has been recovered today.

Satyaprakash Mahanta, a resident of Badasiadimala village under Harichandanpur block, had gone missing on Sunday while bathing in the waterfall, said reports.

Upon being informed, fire brigade personnel and police launched a massive search operation to trace Mahanta. After an extensive search, the body was found in a rocky crevice 200 meters away from the waterfall.

The fire brigade personnel recovered the body. However, the body will be handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.

Notably, this is the second such incident within a month.

Earlier, a youth from Balasore’s Bartana village had gone missing after drowning, and his whereabouts are still unknown. With such incidents occurring frequently, concerns have been raised about tourist safety at Gundichaghai.
