Malkangiri: Police on Thursday recovered body of a man from Sileru river near Tandapali village under Malkangiri Model police station limits.
According to reports, the body was fished out after some locals saw it floating in Sileru river today morning and informed the police.
The corpse with the throat slit has been identified as that of Lakhma Kabasi of Tandapali village.
Malkangiri Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sachin Patel, IIC of Malkangiri Model police station Reagan Kindo with scientific team visited the spot. Police have seized Lakhma’s body and have sent it to Malkangiri district headquarters hospital for conduct of autopsy.
Police have registered a case in this connection and further investigation in the matter is underway.
It is suspected that Lakhma who did not return home last night was murdered by some miscreants and then thrown into the river over suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
