Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance personnel on Thursday arrested Madhusudan Patel, Block Resource Coordinator (BRC), Deogaon block in Bolangir district while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant, an authorised representative of a self-help group (SHG) for facilitating the release of bills for construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) by the said SHG. The Vigilance sleuths have recovered and seized the entire bribe money from the possession of accused Patel.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to Patel from the disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
A case has been registered against Patel in this connection at the Sambalpur Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation into the case is in progress and a detailed report is awaited.
