Bhubaneswar: The heat wave condition continues to prevail over Odisha as maximum temperature in most of the towns in Odisha has crossed 40 degrees C with Balangir becoming hottest place in the state.
Bolangr town today turned a frying pan with recording 45 degrees C temperature. However, temperature in twin city Cuttack-Bhubaneswar has dropped below 40 degrees today.
As many as 27 towns witnessed above 40 degrees C. Angul and Nuapada emerged as the second and third hotest towns at 44.7 and 44.6 degrees C respectively.
According to the bulletin issued by the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Center, mercury touched 44.7 degrees C in Angul, 44.6 in Nuapada, 44.5 in Talcher, 44.5 in Titilagarh, 44.3 in Boudh, 43.4 in Baripada, 43 in Bhawanipatna, 42 in Sambalpur, 42.8 in Dhenkanal, 42.6 in Jharsuguda, 42.6 degrees in Malkangari, 42.5 degrees in Nayagarh, 42.2 degrees in Sundargarh, 42.1 degrees in Hirakud, 42.1 degrees in Keonjhar, 41.9 in Phulbani.
Heat wave prevailed in the districts of Bolangir, Boudh, Nuapada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Nayagarh.
The IMD predicted no possibility of significant change in the day temperature for the next three days. After then, the day temperature is likely to drop by 3 to 4 degrees.
