Bhubaneswar: A youth allegedly stabbed another youth to death after failing to repay the loan given by the latter at Kesinga Bhanarmal in Kalahandi district, on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Biranchi Nayak, a resident of Paralsingha while the accused has been identified as Jitu Gouda of the same locality.
As per reports, Biranchi had given money to Jitu when the latter was searching for a job. When Biranchi asked Jitu to return money he had taken, Jitu started ignoring him.
Biranchi kept on insisting Jitu to return his money and it led the latter to hatch a plot to eliminate him.
On May 12, Jitu asked Biranchi to go out for a drink. Jitu made Biranchi drink heavily and tied his hands and feet before stabbing him multiple times. When Biranchi died, Jitu hid the former’s body inside his house.
As per his plan, Jitu dumped the body in a nearby canal in the dead of the night on May 13.
Police interrogated Jitu as part of the investigation in which Jitu confessed to having committed the crime. Based on his confession, police arrested him and forwarded him to court.
Talking to the mediapersons, Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sandip Patil said, “Biranchi had given Rs 10,000 to Jitu. When Biranchi asked Jitu to return the money, it angered the latter. It prompted him to hatch a plan to kill Biranchi on May 12. The accused has confessed to his crime during interrogation after crime recreation.”
