Balasore: In a shocking incident of medical negligence, a doctor allegedly abandoned a patient mid-surgery, leaving the patient’s family members in a state of panic and outrage.
This incident took place at the Mishra Nursing Home under Soro Municipality in Balasore district.
According to reports, Kalia Jena, a resident of Ankabrahmapur village under Soro police limits, was admitted to the nursing home after he complained of stomach pain on Saturday. The doctor detected a stone in his stomach and advised surgical removal.
Accordingly, preparations were made for his surgery on Monday. After making an incision in Kalia’s abdomen in the operation theatre, the doctor abandoned the surgery, citing complications and fled the scene.
Following the incident, tension ran high on the hospital premises as the patient’s family created uproar over the incident and demanded immediate action against the doctor.
Upon being informed, Soro police arrived and tried to calm down the agitated crowd.
The victim’s son said, “My father was taken into the operation theater. After some time, the doctor came out and told us that the veins were in a complicated position, making it impossible to remove the stone from my father’s stomach. Without giving any further explanation or solution, the doctor left. We were left with no choice but to contact the police.”
