Bhubaneswar: Senior officials of the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) organised a meeting on Wednesday to facilitate hassle-free movement of Physically Reduced Mobility (PRM) passengers during departure and arrival. The meeting was convened by Chief Airport Security Officer of CISF, Sudhir Kumar and chaired by Airport Director Prabhat Ranjan Beuria.
The meeting was attended by all Airlines Station Managers, AAI terminal team, CISF and renowned NGO Heads associated with issues and facilitation of PRM persons during their journey.
Dr Kasturi Mohapatra Director of Open Learning System, Dr Shruti Mohapatra of Swabhiman, Sneha Mishra of Aaina, Jitendra Biswal, Disability Rights Activist highlighted the difficulties faced during travel and shared valuable inputs for improvement of facilities and change of attitudes of employees towards dealing with PRM community.
On this occasion, Help desk counters provided by Airports Authority of India at arrival and at Kerb side area of terminal building was inaugurated in presence of all members. With participation of Airlines, Airports Authority of India, Director Airport assured that all possible measures shall be taken to ensure hassle-free travel experience by PRMs.
CISF facility of Swarnim Sewa was also formally started on this occasion. The committee would be meeting periodically to assess the progress on the pending points. BPIA with all stakeholders are committed for providing all possible support to PRM passengers for their pleasant air journey.
