Bhubaneswar: The Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) authorities will commence a special flight from the capital city to Prayagraj in view of the huge rush for the ‘Mahakumbh Mela.’
The special flight for the Mahakumbh Mela from Bhubaneswar will take off from BPIA once a week – on Wednesday. Currently, there are four weekly flights from Bhubaneswar to Prayagraj. From tomorrow, the number of flights will increase to five. However, the BPIA will take a final decision on continuing the special flight after the Mahakumbh depending on the passenger load.
BPIA Director Prasanna Pradhan told the media, “As you know, we have four weekly flights for Prayagraj from Bhubaneswar and keeping in view of the Mahakumbh rush, the government had requested for a special flight. After talks with Alliance Air we are introducing another weekly flight on Wednesday. It is a 72-seater aircraft.”
“Now, there are four 72-seater aircrafts between Bhubaneswar and Prayagraj. So, the continuation of the special flight in future after Mahakumbh depends on the passenger load,” Pradhan added.
