Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are very likely to experience severe heatwave in the month of May. Most places will be warmer than normal. According to the IMD’s forecast, the day temperature will be above normal in East India and Central East India. Day temperature will be normal or below normal over North West India and West Central India.
Night temperatures are expected to be above normal in some parts of North West and East India. Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, northern parts of Chhattisgarh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and northern parts of Gujarat including Odisha will experience heat wave.
While the rainfall in May is expected to be normal in most parts of India, North West India may receive above normal rainfall, the Met department informed.
Meanwhile, there may be rain in different parts of the state till May 2. It is very likely to rain heavily in parts of the State on Saturday, the IMD stated.
Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts may experience lightning and thundershowers.
