Bhubaneswar: Chief Electoral Officer Sushil Lohani addressed a presser today evening while the bye-election to Brajarajnagar assembly constituency was underway. The CEO said that 69% voting was recorded till 5 pm today evening, and the number is very likely to increase when polling culminates.
Total 2.14 lakh voters are expected to cast their votes in this bypoll, as per the data of the Election Commission which has approved 279 booths. A total of 1,228 polling officers have been engaged to carry out the voting process in a free and fair manner.
“No untoward incident was reported from any booth. However, the EVMs, a few ballot units, and VVPATs were replaced, after glitches were reported from the respective booths. Live webcast is being conducted at 50% of the booths,” Lohani said.
As many as 1,000 police personnel and 3 companies of Central Armed Force have been deployed at different booths to maintain law and order during the voting process.
