Breach In Brahmani River Maroons Several Villages In Jajpur

Jajpur: Several villages in at least two gram panchayats have been marooned due to two breaches in the Brahmani river system at Matiapada village under Sahupada gram panchayat in Bari block of Jajpur district.

River water has entered several villages in Sahupada and Dharapur gram panchayats affecting thousands of persons. On the other hand, floodwaters are receding in the Brahmani river.

The water level of Brahmani was flowing near Jenapur at 68.20 ft against the danger mark of 67 ft last night. It had receded to 67.60 ft at around 7 AM today.

Over a hundred families have also been affected due to a breach in the Brahmani river system at Kandia village under Bandhadiha gram panchayat of the district last night.
