Nuapada: The relentless downpour in western Odisha has caused widespread disruption, with a bridge collapse in Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary in Nuapada district.
According to sources, the incident occurred late Wednesday night, washing away the Tetalkhuti culvert that connected Sunabeda and Gatibeda villages under Sunabeda panchayat in Komna block. The collapse of the decades-old bridge has severed transportation links between several villages, isolating communities already grappling with monsoon-related disruptions. Bus services have been halted, and fallen trees have blocked roads, including a massive tree at Jamgaon Ghati.
Also, the bridge’s collapse has severely impacted connectivity to many villages, leaving residents struggling to access essential services. The affected villages are now facing difficulties in transporting goods and people, exacerbating the challenges posed by the monsoon season.
District administration has been alerted, and efforts are underway to restore connectivity and provide relief to the affected communities.
