Bhubaneswar: Fire Services and ODRAF teams which were engaged in relief and restoration works in West Bengal post Amphan, have served under extra-ordinary circumstances, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said today.
“ODRAF teams and Fire Safety personnel extended cooperation in relief and restoration works in West Bengal during cyclone Amphan. They served people in West Bengal with courage and humanity, even in the extra-ordinary situation of COVID-19,” Naveen said.
Today while addressing uniformed officers, Naveen praised the efforts of the Fire Services and ODRAF teams which were sent to West Bengal to restore normalcy in Kolkata and adjoining cities. The District level Fire Officers (Assistant Fire Officers) and Range Fire Officers attended the Chief Minister’s video conference for the first time today.
Odisha Fire Services has played a vital role in bringing back life to normal in Kolkata and Howrah. A team of 372 personnel of Odisha Fire Services worked day in and day out in cyclone-torn Kolkata. The team was highly praised by the West Bengal Government and officials for their commitment.
Apart from this, the Fire Services have played a crucial role in disinfecting and sanitising the quarantine centres and workplaces. DG Fire Services Satyajit Mohanty said, “We have covered more than 35,000 buildings including the TMCs and sprayed about 70 KL of disinfectants till date.”
