Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Angul police on Monday arrested two persons and seized 28 grams of brown sugar along with cash worth 24.05 lakh from a house in Hatisalapada under Angul Town Police Station limits in Angul district.
The arrested have been identified as Manash Nayak, a resident of Sakosingha village, and Rajesh Sahoo, a resident of Kumanda village.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the storage of brown sugar at the Hatisalapada residence, a special squad along with Angul police conducted a raid on the house following instructions from the Superintendent of Police, Angul.
During the raid, police recovered 28 grams of brown sugar and cash amounting to Rs 24,05,315. Both accused were taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to trace the source and supply network of the seized contraband.
“The source of the brown sugar is currently under investigation. The arrests are part of our ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the district,” said Angul SDPO Ramakanta Mahalik.
