Jaleswar: Around 500 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 50 lakh was seized by police during a raid at Rajpur Basti under Jaleswar police limits in Balasore district on Monday night.
Acting on a tip-off, Jaleswar Police had conducted a raid on the house of one Sk Sarif at Rajpur Basti at around 10 pm last night.
During search of the house, police recovered around 500 grams of brown sugar and materials used to pack the contraband.
Police seized the brown sugar and also detained Sarif’s wife Jaigun Bibi. They have initiated further probe in this regard.
