Brown Sugar Worth Rs 3 Lakh Seized In Jajpur; Accused Arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Jajpur Excise Department conducted a surprise raid at Makeipur Square under Jajpur police station and seized 32 grams of brown sugar from a smuggler. The accused, identified as Parameswar Panda, son of Panchanan Panda of Ankula village, was arrested and produced in court.

According to the excise officer-in-charge, Pradeep Kumar Rath, the seized brown sugar is valued at over Rs 3 lakh. Panda allegedly consumed brown sugar himself and traded it. The excise department received information from a reliable source, leading to the formation of a special team that conducted the raid.

The excise superintendent had instructed the team to patrol various places.
