Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch on Tuesday seized 319 grams of brown sugar valued at approximately Rs 31 lakh and arrested one person in connection with the illegal drug trade, police said on Wednesday.
The arrested drug peddler is a resident of Bhubaneswar.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the special task force (STF) of the crime branch conducted a raid on the bank of river Kuakhai on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday and seized the drug from his possession.
In addition to the contraband, police also seized a motorcycle reportedly used by the accused for transporting the narcotics. He was later produced before the Court of the District Judge of Khurda.
Police also confirmed that the person has a criminal history and was previously involved in two other cases registered at the Badagada and Balianta police stations in Bhubaneswar.
