Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) today gifted 15 bicycles to 15 dedicated Smart City volunteers who have been instrumental in promoting Covid-19 prevention awareness in their respective areas, said an official press release.
The BSCL gifted bicycles to these volunteers at the Smart Park at Saheed Nagar today Cycles to promote ‘Cycle for Change’ among the change agents.
The event was organised to encourage volunteers in sensitizing community members on different developmental issues along with COVID prevention measures.
Officers of BSCL Dipti Rani Sahoo General Manager Social Projects, General Manager Administration Kamaljit Das, Ajay Majhi, Company Secretary and Pradeep Singh, Executive Engineer were present during the event.
As announced by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Commissioner, every Friday is observed as cycle day and cycle-related promotional as well as intervention activities are being done on the day in each week since the inauguration of ‘Cycle for Change’.
On the occasion 60, auto drivers (Smart City On Line Auto Association) vowed to respect cyclist and to support ‘Cycle for Change’ initiative in Bhubaneswar by reading the pledge.
On the other hand, enforcements have been done in the South East Zone to encourage cyclists and promoting space for bicycle riders.
“In the process, we get more and more associations community leaders coming forward to join in the initiative. Such cooperation is the contributing factor to strengthen activities towards the objective of achieving eco-friendly Bhubaneswar,” said Kamaljit Das, GM (Administration) BSCL.
