Cuttack: In a significant development, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha today announced major changes in pattern for the conduct of the 10th Board Exam (High School Certificate Examination) from the current academic year 2023-24.
“Following approval of the School & Mass Education Department of the State Government we have made certain minor changes in the pattern for conduct of examination for classes 9 & 10. This system will be applicable to High School and Madhyama, he added.
Similarly, the two Summative Assessment Exams I & II conducted by the BSE for class 9 of Madhyama and High School have been done away with, he informed.
The BSE will conduct no exam for class 9, but will, however, the BSE will provide question papers for the year end exam, he added.
Hazra said question papers will be dispatched to the DEOs who will distribute those to the schools.
This has been done to bring in uniformity in evaluation/assessment at all places, he explained.
The exam, evaluation and publication of results be conducted by the schools at their level.
“We are introducing a half-yearly exam for class 10 at the school level. Question papers for this exam will be also supplied by the BSE,” he said.
Hazra said that form fill-up for the Supplementary Exam of High School and SOSC 2nd Exam will be held from May 26 and continue till June 1.
“Internal Assessment will remain the same as earlier with four formative assessments and in addition to that aspirational component will be clubbed and marks will be given to students. These marks will be included in the total 600 marks. Out of 120 marks, each subject has been assigned 20 marks. Evaluation will be done in four quarters,” informed BSE Vice President Nihar Ranjan Mohanty addressing the presser.
