Koraput: In a significant anti-Maoist operation, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel successfully neutralized a landmine threat in the Baipariguda area of Koraput district.
Acting on a specific intelligence input, jawans of the 180th BSF Battalion stationed at Ramagiri launched an operation near Ghodaghat hill, close to the Saberi riverbank in Gupteshwar panchayat under Baipariguda block.
Equipped with bomb detection equipment, the BSF team cautiously climbed the hill and carried out a detailed search. During the operation, they discovered 27 gelatin sticks hidden beneath a rock—believed to have been planted by Maoists to target security personnel.
The explosives were safely retrieved and transported to the BSF camp, where the quantity was confirmed. The seized materials are expected to be handed over to the Baipariguda police for further investigation.
The timely action by the BSF averted a potential threat to the lives of security personnel and reaffirmed the force’s vigilance in Maoist-affected areas.
